OUR BELIEFS

Maybe you know a Seventh-day Adventist. Then again, maybe you’ve never personally known any Adventists, but you’ve wondered perhaps, why they go to church on Saturday—a different day than most Christians do. Why do they feel that what they eat and wear is so important? Why do they avoid certain forms of entertainment?

If you’ve ever wondered who Seventh-day Adventists are and what they believe, we’d like to introduce ourselves. This section will hopefully answer any questions you may have about what it means to be a Seventh-day Adventist, and why we do the things we do. We would like you to know us better. And we would also like to get to know you better. So in the next few sections LET’S GET ACQUAINTED!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe both our worship and the way we live our lives should be based on our knowledge of God’s love for us, as shown in His Bible and our relationship with Him. That is why we think it’s important to always study God’s word, and be open to the wisdom He has placed in the Bible that is still being revealed today. We also believe in following Jesus’ example of showing and telling people about God’s love, and the amazing plans He has for them.

The Word of God

The Bible is God’s inspired word. (1 Timothy 3:16)

The Godhead

The Godhead consists of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

Salvation by faith

Salvation is a free gift from God, which we receive through faith. (Ephesians 2:5-8)

Baptism

Baptism by immersion is a symbol of our death to sin and rising to new life and a union with Christ. (Romans 6:1-6)

Christs' second coming

Jesus Christ will soon return in person, in a visible manner to redeem his people. (Matthew 24:30)

The Sabbath

The seventh day, Saturday, is the Sabbath according to the Ten Commandments from sunset Friday to sunset on Saturday. (Genesis 2:1-3 & Exodus 20:8)

Tithe

A tithe (10%) of our income is holy and is reserved for the support of the ministry. (Malachi 3:8-12)

Temperance

The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and is not to be defiled by alcohol, tobacco, drugs or wrong eating habits. (1 Corinthians 3:16)

28 FUNDAMENTAL BELEIEFS

We also hold 28 fundamental beliefs that can be organized into six categories—the doctrines of God, man, salvation, the church, the Christian life and last day events. In each teaching, God is the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity.
