Welwyn Garden City Adventist Community Church
COVID-19 UPDATES
We are committed to creating an environment that meets government recommendations for safety. To make that possible, we have adjusted our services. Please read the details of each event carefully to plan your participation. We continue to monitor the situation closely, so please check the coronavirus update page for the latest information.

We hope to start our worship services back at Applecroft Primary School from January 2021. In order to keep all worshippers safe, we will need to put some strict rules and guidelines in place. This page explains the safety guidelines and we ask that everyone complies with these.
GIVING AN OFFERING
We give offerings because they are love gifts in addition to tithes, expressing our gratitude for what Christ has provided. Tithes are set by God but offerings are set by the believer. These gifts support a specific department or ministry within our church, and world mission projects.

There are various ways you can choose to give an offering which are quick and secure:

KEEPING
OUR CHURCH FAMILY SAFE
-
We will have a single worship service over 90 minutes from 10:00am until 11:30am. This will incorporate shorter versions of both the Divine Service and Sabbath School, without the usual refreshment break in between.
-
There will be a hot and cold drinks ordering station – please give you drinks order to the Deacon before you enter the hall and they will bring this to your seat. No snacks or biscuits will be provided.
-
Please place your chair on a 2m marker as directed by the Deacons. We are experimenting with a couple of different seating arrangements to facilitate the new service format and both will be tried to determine the seating that works best and causes least disruption.
-
Everyone should bring their own items for worship: a Bible, a hymnal, mask, pen, and a bag to hold items rather placing them directly on the floor.
-
There will be no congregational singing, but musicians and worship leaders will include music as part of the service. The piano may be used but no wind instruments.
-
Offerings will not be collected during the service. The offering plate will be placed in an allocated spot so you can drop your offerings in when you exit. Of course, we still encourage you to make use of the online and digital methods of giving to minimise the handling of notes and coins.

WASH
YOUR
HANDS
-
Hand gel will be available at the entrance and at the exit for use by everyone as they arrive and leave.
-
The usual toilets by the entrance will be out of use. Instead, the staff toilet
beside the large hall must be used as it has non-touch flush and taps.
-
A Deacon will co-ordinate trips to the toilets – one person at a time (or parent with child).
-
Detergent wipes will be placed in the toilets for individuals to use on door handles. After washing your hands please use a wipe to open door then place in the bin by the door.
-
After the service you will be provided with a disinfectant wipe to clean your own chair which you must then return to the chair rack.
-
The exit doors will be via the school playground and, to ensure an orderly exit, Deacons will organise leaving one seating row at a time.
-
As you leave the building, please place all used wipes, cups, masks, etc.
in the bins provided.

COVER
YOUR
FACE
-
Deacons will keep a record of everyone attending. A Deacon will tick off regular members; visitors will need to provide their name and a mobile contact number. The Attendance List will be kept for 21 days and then destroyed. A QR code sign for the church will also be displayed so you can scan this into the NHS Covid19 App (see below).
-
All attendees will have a temperature check on arrival. Anyone having or showing symptoms of Covid-19 will be asked to go home. All attendees are asked to wear a face covering when they are in the building. Spare disposable masks and visors will be available if required. Anyone with an Exemption Certificate for masks will be offered a visor instead. If this can’t be used either then they will be placed in the hall, a clear 2 metres apart from everyone else, slightly further if possible.
-
Visors will be provided for anyone sharing a musical item. If there is more than one person in a singing group, they will sit a designated area, stay socially distanced, and stand 2 metres from the front row of the congregation.
-
Detergent wipes will be available to they can wipe their visor clean and keep it for future personal use.

MAKE
SPACE
-
Entry will be via usual entrance door. There will be a one-way system in operation with signs on the floor to guide you. Please go straight to your seat, remember to keep 2 metres apart and avoid standing between spaced chairs.
-
As you enter the hall please take a chair off the rack and place it on a 2m marked spot. Family groups can share a spot and the 2 metres markers will be adjusted.
-
For your safety the seating space is limited. Once all seats are allocated, unfortunately Deacons will need to refuse entry to any further members or visitors. Please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to park, follow the entry procedures and take your seat.
